When I heard that there would be a 'Mindful Triathlon' with running, yoga and meditation, I had to do it!
Running a 5k at the beach and on the sand was tough but so rewarding. All of my marathon training runs have been on cement so running on sand was a challenge. Even with the sun in my face and trying to balance on the sand, I finished in 28 minutes with an average pace of 9:30. I was grateful for the pace but even more appreciative of the serene experience. After the race I ran into a fellow runner, Jenavive. She is the ultimate inspiration having just finished Boston Marathon. I was grateful for her positive vibes and inspiration.
I also ran into well known Vegan Blogger, John Lewis. Much respect to him for spreading awareness of the importance of clean eating and the benefits of a plant based diet.
The second part of the triathlon was my favorite. Yoga was amazing! All of the flows were relaxing and restorative.
The last activity, meditation, was really what I needed. One of my goals is to spend more time being in the present. I set the intention of my meditative practice on focusing my mind on each breathe and clearing away distractions. When my mind started to wonder I took more deep breaths and repeated "I AM" to refocus.
I'm grateful for the challenge, inspiration, positive vibes and positive energy.
